Our Commitment to Environmental Research

At The Royal Gardening Society of Norway, we are committed to advancing research in sustainable gardening, biodiversity preservation, and nature conservation. By deepening our understanding of ecological processes, we develop innovative approaches that promote a healthier and more sustainable relationship between people and the natural world.

Research Focus Areas

Our research explores several key areas:

  • Sustainable Gardening Practices – Investigating eco-friendly methods that improve soil health, conserve water, and support pollinators.
  • Biodiversity Preservation – Studying the role of native plant species in enhancing ecosystem resilience and implement strategies that protect and enhance biological diversity.
  • Nature Conservation – Investigating methods to restore natural habitats and mitigate the impacts of climate change on local and global scales.

Exploring the Role of Mosses

Among our research efforts, we have been studying the vital role of mosses in ecosystems. As some of the first plants to transition from water to land, mosses play a crucial role in soil formation, water retention, and carbon sequestration. Their ability to thrive in diverse environments makes them essential for ecosystem restoration and biodiversity support.
