In Focus: How We’re Making a Difference
From impactful programmes to local community action, The Royal Gardens continues to grow as a platform for nature stewardship and sustainability.
Through this partnership, the Embassy becomes one of the first diplomatic institutions in Oslo to take part in a program designed to combine professional garden management with environmentally responsible practices that support biodiversity and natural conservation. This reflects a long-term commitment to the ecological balance of urban ecosystems.
Through this collaboration, Sydskogen Skole becomes the first school to formally participate in the Kongedugnad initiative, reflecting a shared commitment to environmental awareness, community participation, and the cultivation of sustainable values among children.
Every programme and certification we offer is built on clear standards of sustainability and environmental care. Through transparency and shared knowledge, we aim to promote responsible gardening practices across diverse landscapes and communities.
We are also proud to announce the first edition of the Kongedugnad, taking place from 15 April to 15 May 2026. This nationwide initiative will engage children, educators, families, and local institutions in a month-long celebration of dugnad, the Norwegian tradition of voluntary community effort. Together, schools and communities across Norway will clean, plant, and share stories that celebrate both nature and collective action. Kongedugnad is a practical example of environmental engagement, rooted in tradition and supported by young people.
Mark your calendars for the Royal Gardens Launch on 15 May 2025. On this date we celebrate Norway’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, leading into the national celebration on 17 May. The Royal Gardens honours those who care for their landscapes, at home, in schools, in parks, through sustainability, creativity, and community pride.
